To evaluate the effect of occlusal stabilizing appliance on nasal respiration in supine position, this study was examined Subjects were composed of dental students without any signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders and respiratory diseases, The age of subjects was limited to be between 22 and 28 years, Maximum flow rate, vital capacity and duration of a respiration were measured, analyzed and evaluated wIthout and with appliance in supine position by Aerophone II,
The obtained results were as follows
1 The maximum flow rate of a respiration with occlusal stabilizing appliance was no significant difference compared to that without occlusal stabilizing appliance
2. The vital capacity of a respiration with occlusal stabilizing appliance was no significant difference compared to that without occlusal stabilizing appliance,
3 The duration of a respiration with occlusal appliance was significantly increased compared to that without occlusal appliance (P ≶ 005).
